Easter Hope: Suffering Isn’t the End of the Story
This week, FOB Truth gathered to reflect on something deeper than chocolate and pastels: the real meaning of Easter.
We talked about Christ’s suffering—not as a tragedy, but as a choice. He chose the cross. He chose the pain. Because He chose you.
Romans 8 reminds us that if we share in Christ’s suffering, we’ll also share in His glory. That’s not a metaphor—it’s a promise.
We asked: Did the cross kill Jesus, or the weight of our sin? The answer is yes. He carried it all. Willingly.
But the story doesn’t end in the grave.
Luke 24 says it all: “He is not here; He is risen.”
Revelation 21 gives us the final scene: no more tears, no more pain, only glory.
So how do we honor Christ this Easter?
Not just by attending a service—but by living like He’s alive.
Speak the truth. Forgive like He did. Share your hope. Let people see that resurrection power in your life.
SCRIPTURES:
-
Romans 8:16–18 – We share in Christ’s suffering so we may also share in His glory.
-
1 Peter 4:12–13 (NLT) – Fiery trials make us partners with Christ—rejoice, for His glory is coming.
-
1 Peter 5:10 – After you suffer for a little while, God will restore and strengthen you.
-
Revelation 21:1–4 – The old order will pass away—no more death, no more tears.
-
Isaiah 53:5 – “He was pierced for our transgressions… by His wounds we are healed.”
-
Luke 24:6–7 – “He is not here; He is risen!”
KEY POINTS:
-
Easter is not just about resurrection—it’s about the path through the cross that got us there.
-
Jesus suffered completely—for our sin, shame, and salvation. His empty tomb proves the price was accepted.
-
Did the cross kill Christ, or the weight of our sin? The answer is yes. He bore it all willingly.
-
Sanctification is the refining process of this life—but Easter reminds us the end of the story is glory.
-
Revelation 21 assures us: one day, all suffering will end. This is our Easter hope.
🧨 Why Don’t People Celebrate Easter More?
-
Cultural numbness: Easter’s been buried under bunnies, baskets, and brunch. It’s been sanitized into a Hallmark holiday.
-
Cross avoidance: The resurrection is glorious—but it came through a brutal, bloody death. That makes people uncomfortable.
-
Cheap grace mindset: We like the idea of Jesus rising, but not the implication that He died for our sin. Resurrection without repentance is just good vibes.
-
Distraction: Life is loud. Most people don’t slow down long enough to reflect on eternal things unless they’re in crisis.
-
Spiritual deadness: Let’s be blunt—if you don’t know Jesus, Easter is just another long weekend.
🙌 How Can We Truly Honor Christ and Celebrate Easter?
1. Reflect on the Cross — not just the Empty Tomb
“He was pierced for our transgressions…” (Isaiah 53:5)
Spend time meditating on what Christ endured. Watch The Passion. Read John 19 slowly. Let the weight of the crucifixion break you.
2. Make Worship Non-Negotiable
Go to church like it matters—because it does. Don’t just attend. Engage.
Sing like He’s alive. Listen like your soul depends on it.
3. Live Resurrected
“You were raised with Christ… Set your minds on things above.” (Colossians 3:1–2)
Stop living like you’re still in the grave. Forgive. Let go of sin. Share the gospel. Walk in joy. Be bold.
4. Tell Someone Why It Matters
Jesus didn’t rise so we could keep it to ourselves.
Invite someone to church. Share your testimony. Post more than eggs and flowers—post truth.
5. Make It a Week, Not a Day
Don’t let Easter end with lunch. Read Scripture each day. Pray daily with gratitude. Celebrate the season of resurrection, not just the Sunday.
If we really believe Jesus died and rose again—then nothing else matters more.
Live like it’s true. Speak like it’s urgent. Worship like it’s everything.
